PROGRAMS
Community Room
We open our space for community partners to come alongside us in our efforts to care for our guests. Here are some ways that we have been using the community room.
Canadian Mental Health Association
Meet with a nurse or peer support worker for health concerns, wound care and mental health support.
Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Team
Meet with a nurse or health navigator for wound care, housing needs, health program applications, and Healthcard access.
Weekly Art Therapy / Art Drop-In
Join for painting, colouring, crafts, and other art therapy.
Youth Programming
We strive to uphold our values of hospitality, community, belonging, and advocacy to youth in the Barton Village community. Youth programs at 541 provide a safe, supportive, and reliable space for teens to make friends and access mentoring. This often includes free weekly after-school programming, meals, skill development, and group discussions. Our youth programs are supported by donors and cafe profits.
Teen Leadership Camp
Teen Leadership Camp (TLC) is a summertime volunteer experience for high school students. Teens apply for one of two specialized streams - Front of House or Culinary Focus - and spend 4 days working alongside our fantastic staff to get a taste of the 541 community and get those community service hours!
