Youth Programming

We strive to uphold our values of hospitality, community, belonging, and advocacy to youth in the Barton Village community. Youth programs at 541 provide a safe, supportive, and reliable space for teens to make friends and access mentoring. This often includes free weekly after-school programming, meals, skill development, and group discussions. Our youth programs are supported by donors and cafe profits.

Teen Leadership Camp

Teen Leadership Camp (TLC) is a summertime volunteer experience for high school students. Teens apply for one of two specialized streams - Front of House or Culinary Focus -  and spend 4 days working alongside our fantastic staff to get a taste of the 541 community and get those community service hours!

541 is situated on the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, which was an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. We further acknowledge that this land is covered by the Between the Lakes Purchase, 1792, between the Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We acknowledge our position as settlers on this land, and the harm that has been and continues to be caused by the breaking of these treaties.
