We Won an Award. Then Someone Told Our Story.

It's hard to explain what 541 is.

We could talk about our pay-it-forward buttons, or the food and coffee. But that only tells a part of the story. 541 is really about the people. It's about the feeling of being welcomed, known, and having a place to sit.

This documentary was made by Meridian after 541 was honoured with the Small Business Big Impact award, and we think it captures something we've never quite been able to put into words.

Meet Ameriga - 541's Executive Director

If you've spent time at 541, you've likely felt her leadership before you even knew her name. It shows up in the way the space feels. In the way people are cared for. Ameriga's connection to 541 has always been rooted in people. She shows up with consistency, care, and a deep belief in what this place can be.

Her leadership is steady and intentional. Not loud, but it shapes so much of what 541 is today.

"We're here to welcome people, like the way that I was welcomed, the way that Albert was welcomed." — Ameriga

We are so proud to share that Ameriga is now our permanent Executive Director. It's the right fit, at the right time, for this community.

The documentary also introduces you to others who call 541 home- including familiar faces like Patti and Chris. Their stories reflect something we see every day: small moments matter. A conversation over coffee can become a meaningful connection. A shared meal can become a sense of belonging.

That's the heart of 541.

If you've been meaning to visit, consider this your sign. Come by, grab a meal, and stay a while. We'd love to see you.

541 is situated on the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, which was an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. We further acknowledge that this land is covered by the Between the Lakes Purchase, 1792, between the Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We acknowledge our position as settlers on this land, and the harm that has been and continues to be caused by the breaking of these treaties.
